NORFOLK, Va. (Jan. 7, 2020)-Morgan State senior guard
Chelsea Mitchell was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday. It is the fourth MEAC weekly honor this season for Mitchell, who previously earned MEAC Defensive (11/26), Co-Defensive Player (11/12) and MEAC Co-Player of the Week (12/17) honors.

Mitchell shares this week's honor with North Carolina Central senior Paulina Afriyie. Coppin State's Alexandria Hamilton was named MEAC Rookie of the Week, while Norfolk State senior Chanette Hicks earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

A native of Columbia, Md., Mitchell averaged a double-double as the Lady Bears opened MEAC play going 1-1 this past week. The 5-foot-9 guard averaged 23 points and 15.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 19-for-36 (.528) from the floor.

She began the week scoring a game-high 25 points and grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds, while adding three steals and a block on Saturday at Delaware State. Mitchell then recorded a 21-point, 16-rebound performance on Monday against South Carolina State.
