WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 28, 2020)-The Morgan State women's tennis team dropped its second straight match and road contest of the season on Tuesday, falling to host George Washington, 5-2 at the Southeast Tennis Learning Center.
George Washington (1-1) claimed the doubles point by earning victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take a 1-0 lead. The Lady Bears'
Dana Santiago and
Jourdan Wallace teamed together to earn a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot.
The Lady Bears' two points came at the No. 4 and No. 6 singles positions.
Ana-Lei Kalawe defeated Lara McNaughten in a No. 4 match 6-4, 6-1 and
Guntra Upeniece won by default at No. 6
The host Colonials would win the remaining four singles contests, including a tough three-set match at No. 3, when Luciana Kunkel defeated Morgan State's
Stefania Moysiadi 7-5, 4-6, 10-6.
Morgan State (1-2) heads to Flushing Meadows, N.Y. to take on St. John's on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the USTA National Tennis Center at 6:30 p.m.
