NEWARK, Del. (April 13, 2019)-The Morgan State women's tennis fell to Delaware 5-2 in its final non-conference match of the season on Saturday evening at Delaware Field House Outdoor Courts.

The Lady Bears (6-12) would start by taking the double point. The freshmen duo of
Averiana Mitchell and
Jourdan Wallace would earn a 6-3 at No. 3 position. At No. 1 doubles
Asmara Rose and
Peggy Rooke fought to earn a 7-6 victory and give the 1-0 lead to the Lady Bears.

The singles play would not go very well for the Lady Bears with Rooke being the only one winning at No. 2 singles. Morgan State would lose all the other matches in straight sets except Wallace, who went to a third set but ended up losing 6-3, 2-6, 2-6 at the No. 6 position.

The loss ended a three-match winning streak for the Lady Bears.

"We played competitive early on, but Delaware wanted it more than we did and took control of the match," said head coach
Matthew Townes.

The Lady Bears return to action on Monday, April 15 when they face rival Coppin State for their last match of the regular season. First serve at 2 p.m. at the Coppin State Tennis Courts.
