Adre'onia Coleman was named to the All-MEAC first team, while freshman guard
Ashia McCalla was named to the All-MEAC Rookie team, as announced by the league office on Friday. The all-conference honors are voted on by the head coaches and sports information director in the league.

Coleman and McCalla become the second and third all-conference selections under third-year head coach Ed Davis, following behind former Lady Bear
Lexus Spears, who last season was a third-team honoree. Â Coleman and McCalla's selections, also marks the 13
th year out of the last 14, that Morgan State has had a player named to the all-conference team.

"It's a great feeling to be able to finish my career with my name in the books, not only as a player, but a player who has earned a spot on the All-MEAC first team for this 2018-19 season," said Coleman. "I am extremely thankful. Looking forward to accomplishing even more in the tournament next week."

Coleman, a native of Baltimore, and a graduate of St. Francis Academy, started all 30 games for the Lady Bears and led the team in both scoring (16.5) and rebounding (7.9), finished second in both steals (49) and blocks (17), while adding 33 assists. She reached double figures in scoring 27 times and led the Lady Bears in scoring in 25 games. Coleman, who is currently riding an 11-game streak of reaching double figures in scoring, recorded nine double-doubles on the season.

The 5-foot-10 forward, scored a career-high 26 points this season against the University of Maryland Baltimore County (12/20). She recorded her 1,000
th combined collegiate point (Monroe CC and Morgan State) on a jumper in the opening round of the Preseason WNIT at Harford (11/9). Twice she pulled down a season-best 15 rebounds this season against UMass Lowell (12/29) and Savannah State (1/7), falling one rebound shy of tying her career-high 16 rebounds set last season against Maryland Eastern Shore (1/3/18).

Coleman was a three-time MEAC Player of the Week selection and twice she earned the
College Sports Madness MEAC Player of the Week award.

Coleman was joined on the All-MEAC first team by MEAC Player of the Year, NaJai Pollard of Delaware State, Angel Golden (Bethune-Cookman), Brooke Fields (Coppin State), Ciani Byrom (Maryland Eastern Shore) and C'coriea Foy (North Carolina A&T State).

A native of Greenbelt, Md., McCalla, finished the regular season as the Lady Bears' second leading scorer with 9.9 points. The former Eleanor Roosevelt High School product, where she led the team to a Maryland 4A State title a year ago, also finished second on the team in rebounding with 4.5 boards per game to go along with 38 steals and 24 assists for the Lady Bears.
The 5-foot- guard led the Lady Bears in three-pointers made (34), three-point percentage (.347) and free throw percentage (.747), connecting on 68-of-91 from the charity line.

McCalla, who played in all 30 games, making seven starts, came off the bench to lead the Lady Bears in scoring four times. She reached double figures in scoring 15 times and scored a season-best 18 points three times against Maryland Eastern Shore (1/5), Florida A&M (1/28) and at Delaware State (3/2).

In her first game as a Lady Bear, she came off the bench to pull down a season-high 11 rebounds to go with eight points and two steals in the season opener against Lincoln-Pa. (11/6). She set a season-high four steals at Hartford (11/9) in the opening round of the Preseason WNIT and had her best three-point shooting display, going 3-for-4 against Michigan (12/15).

McCalla earned MEAC Rookie of the Week accolades on Jan. 29.

"This was a great accomplishment for me, being that it was one of my goals from the start of the season," said McCalla. "But there is more to come."

Joining McCalla on the MEAC All-Rookie Team was MEAC Rookie of the Year, Myasia Jones of Savannah State, Camary Harris (Bethune-Cookman), Mya Moye (Florida A&M) and Krislyn Marsh (Howard).

The Lady Bears, who enter next week's MEAC Tournament as the sixth-seed, return to action on Monday, March 11, when they face a familiar foe, in rival Coppin State, who will be the 11th-seed. Tip-off is at 3:30 p.m. at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va.

The two teams just met on Thursday, March 7, with host Morgan State winning the regular season finale, 70-47, thus sweeping the regular season series. Morgan State has won four straight over the Eagles dating back to the 2017-18 season.

This will be the fourth MEAC Tournament meeting between the two programs over the last five seasons and the second consecutive year the two teams will meet in the opening round with the same seeds that they had last season. Morgan State won last season's match-up, 58-51 (3/5/18). The Lady Bears hold a 4-2 mark all-time against Coppin State in the MEAC Tournament.
