Men's Tennis Suffers 4-3 Setback as Blue Hens Snap Win Streak

NEWARK, Del. (March 23, 20190 -- The Morgan State men's tennis team had its six-match winning streak snapped in a 4-3 loss at Delaware on Saturday, March 23, as the Blue Hens made their season debut at the Delaware Field House Outdoor Courts.
 
The Bears (7-5) collected the team doubles point, but Delaware (11-6) rebounded in singles action for the victory.

Morgan State got on the board first with a victory in doubles to take a 1-0 lead. Nihit Rawal and Oguzhan Ceylan clinched the point at No. 2 after Sebastian Lopez and Shrey Gupta claimed a win at the No. 3 spot. 

In singles action, Morgan State took a 2-1 lead when Ceylan defeated Blaise Casselbury, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4. Ceylan, the reigning MEAC Player of the Week, improved his singles record to 7-3 for the season and has a 6-match winning streak.

James Wilkinson captured the first win of the day for the Blue Hens by defeating Serhii Kharchev, 6-2, 6-3, in No. 1 singles.
 
Luis Molina tied the match at 2-2 in No. 2 singles with his 6-2, 7-5 victory over Arjun Ramakrishnan before Nathan Benyowitz put the Hens ahead with his 7-5, 6-2 win against Shrey Gupta in the sixth flight.
 
Morgan State's Sebastian Lopez suffered a 7-6 (3), 0-6, 6-2 decision versus Milo Nagle in No. 5 singles, while Nihit Rawal finished the afternoon with a tough 7-6, 6-7, 10-8 win against Guilherme Valdoleiros.

The Bears will attempt to rebound when they travel to Philadelphia to take on Temple in non-conference action on Thursday, March 28. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
