ELON, N.C. (March 20, 2019)-The Morgan State women's tennis wrapped up its Spring Break tour through North Carolina with a 7-0 shutout loss at Elon on Wednesday.

The Lady Bears (2-10) would lose the doubles point giving an early lead to Elon.
Asmara Rose and junior
Peggy Rooke lost 6-1 at the No.1 spot. The duo of freshman,
Averiana Mitchell and
Jourdan Wallace fought, but fell 6-4 at the No.2 position, which gave a 1-0 lead to Elon.

Going into singles play, Rose lost 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Mitchell would also lose 6-1, 3-4 after being forced to retire. Maria Paraja then secured the fourth point against
Dana Santiago at the No. 2 spot and gave the win to Elon.

Rooke fell 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1 position and
Jourdan Wallace at No. 6 spot would also lose 6-3, 6-4. Finally, at No. 5 singles,
Oriane Yehouenou suffered a tough three-set loss 6-3, 4-6, 10-1 against Nicole Shiau.

"Although we lost a couple of really tight matches, we played extremely well in doubles and once we start clicking in singles, we will be a problem for opponents," said Morgan State head coach,
Matthew Townes.

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Sunday, March 24 when they play the University of Maryland Eastern Shore at home for their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match of the season. First serve will be at 2 p.m. at the MSU Tennis Courts.
