Men's Tennis Records Season-High Win-Streak With Six

GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 19, 2019) -- Fresh off a 5-2 win at N.C. Central on Monday, the Morgan State men's tennis team collected another victory in the 'Tar Heel State.' 

The Bears consistently played well against North Carolina A&T and extended to a six-match winning streak after posting a 5-2 road win against the Aggies Tuesday afternoon at the Aggie Tennis Complex. 

Morgan State's (7-4, 1-0 MEAC) Nihit Rawal and Oguzhan Ceylan, among the MEAC's best doubles duos, extended their record to 4-0 as they cruised to a 6-0 win against Jordan Lawrence and Nolan Martino in the third flight.  Arjun Ramakrishnan and Serhii Kharchev earned a 6-3 decision against Vasil Ivanov and Jorge Goenaga to help clinch the doubles point. 

Oguzhan Ceylan added to the Bears early lead when he defeated N.C. A&T's (1-13, 0-1 MEAC) Hayden Faulkenbury at the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-2. With the win he improved his singles record to 6-3 on the season and has won his last five matches.

Sebastian Lopez continued the Bears momentum by posting a 6-2, 6-3 win against Jordan Lawrence at No. 5. 

Morgan State suffered a setback at No. 1 singles when Kharchev lost a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Jorge Goenaga, but the Bears bounced back when Ramakrishnan captured a 6-3, 6-2 win against Nicolas Arduh. 

Nihit Rawal fell, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0, to Vasil Ivanov at No. 3, before Shrey Gupta capped the match by outlasting Nolan Martino 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 margin.

The Bears will look to continue its winning ways when they host St. Francis College Brooklyn on Saturday, March 23. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
