BALTIMORE, Md. (February 25, 2019) -- The Morgan State men's basketball held a first half lead against Howard, but were unable to withstand the Bison's strong second half as they fell 75-69 Monday night at Hill Field House.

In a rematch of their January 15th overtime thriller in Washington, D.C., RJ Cole scored a game-high 19 points to help rally the Bison (14-15 overall, 8-6 MEAC) to victory.

Cole, the MEAC Preseason Player of the Year, also finished the game with six steals, five rebounds, and four assists.

Morgan State (8-18 overall, 3-10 MEAC) was not able to build on their largest lead of the game (37-29), and their Beltway rivals began to slowly chip away the lead.

The momentum of the game shifted when Howard went on a 9-0 run at the 11:44 mark beginning with Cole knocking down a jumper to shorten the Bears lead to only two points.

Cole made two free throws and then a 3-pointer to break a 50-50 tie midway through the second half as Howard took the lead for good with 10:06 remaining.

The Bison continued to score and grabbed their largest lead of the night when they went up 75-64 after a jump shot by Cole with 1:50 left.

Morgan State had three players in double-digits led by David Syfax. The junior forward scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to tie his season-high.

Freshman guard Isaiah Burke finished with 13 points, and sophomore guard Kyson Rawls added 12 (3-5 3FG).

In what looked like a scary scene for everyone attending, Stanley Davis banged the hardwood in agony and was on the court for a brief amount of time before gingerly returning to the bench.

Davis would return later in the second half and finished with a game-high 12 rebounds and scored six points.

"Stanley is a pretty tough guy, so he pretty much comes back from a lot of things," said MSU head coach Todd Bozeman. "We have a couple days before we play again. They'll be off tomorrow and I'm sure he'll get himself back ready to go."

Morgan State finished the game with 21 turnovers. Bozeman believed those turnovers undoubtedly hurt the Bears as most of them were self-inflicted.

Howard scored 20 points off Morgan State turnovers and shot 59 percent from the floor in a 48-point second half.

Morgan State will look to get back on track at Delaware State when they play the Hornets Saturday (March 2) at 4 p.m. in a MEAC matchup.
