Men’s Tennis Handles Business Versus Villanova, 6-1

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (February 16, 2019) – Morgan State men's tennis posted a 6-1 non-conference victory against Villanova at the Brigade Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.
 
Morgan State improved to 4-4 overall, while the Wildcats dropped to 5-2.

"What a huge day for our squad," said MSU coach Matthew Townes. "They stepped up in a major way against a high quality team. I'm really happy with how we played in every phase of the game." 
 
Serhii Kharchev and Arjun Ramakrishnan got things started for Morgan State as they won their doubles match in the No. 2 spot, 6-4. Nihit Rawal and Oguzhan Ceylan captured a 6-4 victory in the No. 3 spot to take the doubles point for the Bears.
 
In singles, Kharchev won his match 6-3, 7-6 in the No. 1 spot. Sebastian Lopez had a tough battle against Tyler Roth, before prevailing with a 7-6, 3-6, 15-13 win at No. 2.
 
At the No. 3 slot, Rawal, the MEAC's reigning Player of the Week, recorded a 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 decision against Thomas Dodson.  
 
Ceylan and Shrey Gupta completed the Bears domination as they rolled to wins a the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively.

The Bears will take some time off before they play host to the Loyola Greyhounds on Wednesday, March 13 at the MSU Tennis Courts.
