The Tigers improved to a 17-14 series record against Morgan, and captured its first win against the Bears since an 82-78 overtime win on December 6, 2017 at SECU Arena.

Morgan State dropped their fifth straight game and now sit at 3-7 overall.

Tonight's matchup had six lead changes and four ties in the first half, before the Tigers (4-4) went on a 9-3 run, capped by a Betrand three to give the Tigers 39-32 halftime lead.

Betrand finished with 17 points (3-4 3FG) and Nakye Sanders chipped in 13.

Towson (4-4) dominated the glass in the first half as they grabbed 19 rebounds to the Bears nine. The Tigers also scored 10 points on all 10 of their offensive rebounds.

"We had nine rebounds and they had 10," said MSU head coach Kevin Broadus. "We can't win basketball games with a deficit like that. We have to get physically and mentally tougher."

Towson finished with 13 second-chance points on 15 offensive rebounds.

The Tigers momentum would continue into the second half as they started the final twenty minutes on an 11-0 run.

Betrand scored eight of the Tigers 11 points during the run, including a three-pointer to increase  the Tigers lead to 50-32.

However, after a media timeout at the 15:36 mark, the Bears would go on a 13-0 run to trim the lead to 50-45.

Stanley Davis led the Bears with 14 points and seven rebounds. Sherwyn Devonish-Prince added 11.

A dunk by Nakye Sander ended the Bears run as the Tigers regained the momentum.

"I think when our guys got close, they got to the point where it was just like, 'okay, we're here.' No. When you get close, you just keep going and you take over," Broadus said.

The Bears trimmed the lead to single digits with nine minutes remaining before the Tigers would take control for the rest of the game.

"We gotta keep fighting," Devonish-Prince said on how the Bears can begin to take leads when trimming a deficit. "We got to keep our foot on the gas pedal."

After two free throws by Devonish-Prince to keep the Bears momentum alive and the score close at 52-47, led by Sander the Tigers would go on a 9-0 to increase their lead to 14.

The Tigers would continue to fend off the Bears to garner their largest lead of the game with 1:18 remaining by going up 20 and leading the Bears 76-56.
