BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 9, 2019)-The Morgan State volleyball team went over to crosstown rival Coppin State on Friday evening and spoiled the Eagles' home finale with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-17) sweep in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division contest at the Physical Education Complex.
Morgan State (15-11, 9-4 MEAC) swept the season series for the first time since 2016, while upping its season-long winning streak to seven straight.
Tylar Roberson hit for a match-high .474, finishing with 10 kills and picking up seven digs and Zoe McBride tallied a match-high 18 kills and had an attack percentage of .467. Roi Wallace had a match-best 37 assists to go with five digs and Jennevy Santos finished with a match-high 12 digs. Mykaela Ross tallied five kills, while Sara Brown and Jasmin Perry added four and three kills, respectively, as the Lady Bears recorded their third consecutive sweep over an opponent.
The Lady Bears finished the match with 41 kills, while hitting .370 as a team. Morgan State had nine service aces with McBride recording a match-high three aces. Wallace, Sophie Pajevic and Jasmin Hubbard each had two.
McBride had a match-high three blocks, while Brown also had three blocks, including one solo. Perry finished with two blocks, as the Lady Bears held a 6.0-3.0 advantage in blocks over the host Eagles.
Coppin State (11-16, 7-6 MEAC) was led by Miajoavon Coleman's seven kills and Paola Caten added six. Brianna Lang totaled 20 assists and Ashley Roman finished with 11 digs.
Morgan State will be off until next Friday, Nov. 15, when it travels to Princess Anne, Md. to take on the Hawks of Maryland Eastern Shore. First serve is at 6 p.m. at Hytche Athletic Complex.
