NORFOLK, Va. (Nov. 26, 2019)-Morgan State senior Chelsea Mitchell was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday. It is the second MEAC weekly honor this season for Mitchell.
 
Norfolk State's Chanette Hicks and Howard's Sarah Edmond were selected as the MEAC Co-Players of the Week, while Makayla Adams of Maryland Eastern Shore was named MEAC Rookie of the Week.
 
A native of Columbia, Md., Mitchell grabbed nine rebounds – all defensive – and snatched a game-high four steals in Morgan State's 57-52 win over Marshall this past week. It was the first time the Lady Bears defeated the Thundering Herd in four meetings, as well as the program's first win over a Conference USA opponent since it defeated Florida International, 62-51 in Baltimore (12/4/17).
