BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 2, 2019)-Morgan State will close out the home portion of its schedule on Sunday, Nov. 3, when it welcomes Norfolk State for a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division match at Hill Field House. First serve is at 1 p.m. The contest will mark Senior Day, as seniors Jasmin Hubbard and Roi Wallace will be honored prior to playing their final home contest of their collegiate careers.

Aside from trying to send out its seniors with one last victory at home, there will be added motivation in facing its opponent, the Spartans of Norfolk State.

Morgan State (13-11, 7-4 MEAC), which is in the midst of a season-long five-match winning streak, has not lost since Oct. 14; a 3-0 defeat at Norfolk State. That loss was not only the Lady Bears' third straight MEAC defeat, but it gave the host Spartans their first and only victory of the season.

"Everyone took the loss to Norfolk personal and refused to carry that energy into our matches," said Mykaela Ross. "I think the difference in practices and gameday has really come down to our focus and our relentless mindset as a team."

Since that loss, Morgan State has gone 5-0, picking up road wins against MEAC Southern Division members Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M, before returning home to defeat South Carolina State to end with a 4-1 record in MEAC cross divisional play. The Lady Bears returned to MEAC Northern Division play and defeated crosstown rival Coppin State and followed it up with a 3-0 sweep on Friday against four-time defending MEAC champion Howard to hand the Lady Bison their first league defeat of the season.

"I think the biggest difference with the team leading up to these wins was the mindset that we just don't want to lose anymore," said Wallace. "Losing those three matches all in a row didn't feel good and we knew we needed to do better, so a lot of people had the mindset of just playing hard and refusing to lose. We wanted to win by any means necessary."

Friday's win ended a season-long nine-match winning streak for Howard and put an end to a three-match winning streak in the series for the Lady Bison, who had won seven of the last eight contests against Morgan State.

Zoe McBride earned her 14th double-double of the season, while Tylar Roberson hit .300 and recorded 12 kills and tied a team-high 13 digs to pick up her ninth double-double. Jasmin Perry hit for a match-high .545, totaling six kills on 11 attempts with no errors. Jennevy Santos had 13 digs and Roi Wallace totaled a match-best 36 assists.

Norfolk State (1-19, 1-9 MEAC) enters the contest on a five-match losing skid after dropping a 3-0 loss at Coppin State on Friday. Bojana Bolozan had a team-high eight kills and Halley McKnight recorded 12 assists. Julisa Carrizosa tallied eight digs.
