BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 19, 2019) -- Junior forward Lagio Grantsaan led five Bears in double-figures with a game-high 20 points along with 11 rebounds as the Morgan State men's basketball team defeated the Regent University Royals 88-52 on Tuesday night at Hill Field House.

Grantsaan finished the night shooting 8-for-17 from the field, hit a pair of three-pointers and added three assists.

Senior guard Stanley Davis and junior guard Kyson Rawls tallied 13 points apiece, and sophomore guards Isaiah Burke and Sherwyn Devonish-Prince chipped in 10 points each as the Bears cruised past the Royals shooting 45 percent (33-72) from the field.

Morgan State (3-2) struggled to score through the opening 3 minutes before Isaiah Burke hit a layup to help spark the Bears offense. Kyson Rawls hit two three-pointers and finished with a layup to help give the Bears commanding 17-1 lead with 13:57 in the opening stanza.

Regent (0-5) went without a field goal over the first 8:46 of the first half. Markell Riggins scored on a layup to break the drought as the Royals trailed 19-5.

Rawls scored 11 of his season-high 13 points to help give the Bears a 36-20 lead at the intermission.

The Bears continued its onslaught in the second half and held its largest lead of the night at 38 points.

Morgan State out-rebounded the Royals by a 47-37 margin and finished with 42 points in the paint.

"Lagio came and he played well," said Morgan State coach Kevin Broadus. "He rebounded. He had a double-double. That's what we brought him here for. He's got to get comfortable and he's slowly getting there."

Broadus also spoke about the lift given by Rawls.

"Kyson got us going early," Broadus said. "His spark was very much needed during that time because of our starters fouling and trying to do things that we don't teach every day."

Not only was the Bears dominate on offense, but their defense was also smothering. Morgan State's defense held the Royals to 30 percent shooting (16-52) and scored 26 points off of 24 forced turnovers. The Bears also collected nine blocked shots.

Next up for the Bears is the Liberty University Flames on November 22 at 11 a.m. as part of the three day Islands of the Bahamas Showcase.
