DOVER, Del. (Nov. 18, 2019)-The Morgan State volleyball team concluded the regular season on Sunday afternoon avenging an early season home loss to Delaware State. The Lady Bears, who lost a five-setter to the Hornets back in September in Baltimore, returned the favor with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-21) sweep in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) finale for both teams at Memorial Hall.

For Morgan State, the victory was the 470th career coaching win for head coach
Ramona Riley-Bozier. For Delaware State, the loss knocked the Hornets out of making the MEAC Volleyball Championship Tournament.

The Lady Bears, who a week ago wrapped up the No. 2 seed out of the MEAC Northern Division, improved to 16-12 overall, 10-5 in the MEAC, including 6-4 in the MEAC Northern Division. The 16 wins are the most for a Morgan State team since 2006, when that squad earned 22 wins and advanced to the MEAC title match, while the 10 MEAC victories are the most in school history.

Zoe McBride hit .382 for the match and posted a match-high 16 kills and added a match-high 14 digs to collect her 16th double-double of the season. Â
Sara Brown hit for a match-high .444 with nine kills on 18 attempts and just one error, to help the Lady Bears hit .250 as a team.
Tylar Roberson and
Mykaela Ross each added six kills and
Shadae Debraux had five. Roberson finished with 13 digs, while
Jennevy Santos totaled 10.

Roi Wallace finished with a match-high 40 assists to give her a season-best 1,044 and move her into sixth on the single-season charts. Wallace, who has tallied 3,580 assists for her career, is now 65 assists shy of passing former Lady Bear Monica Scott (3,644 assists from 1995-98) and moving into second-place all-time at Morgan State.

Delaware State (12-18, 7-8 MEAC) was led by Mayah Ngundam, who finished with 10 kills and Jordan Vang, who added nine. Jasmal Cruz tallied 11 digs and Freja Gortz posted 39 assists. Sndney Armbrister recorded a match-high five blocks to help the Hornets hold an 8.0-4.0 advantage in blocks over Morgan State.

The Lady Bears will now direct their attention to the upcoming MEAC Volleyball Championships, which will take place Friday, Nov. 22-Sunday, Nov. 24 hosted by Howard University. All matches will be held at Burr Gymnasium in Washington, D.C.

Morgan State will likely face Bethune-Cookman (8-23, 5-9 MEAC) the No. 3 seed in the MEAC Southern Division, in Friday's quarterfinal round. It will be the ninth overall meeting between the two programs in the MEAC postseason tournament with each team winning four. The Lady Bears and Wildcats last met in the quarterfinals of the 2016 tournament with Bethune-Cookman earring a 3-0 victory, its fourth straight over Morgan State in postseason play.
