BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 6, 2019)-The Morgan State volleyball team concluded its four-match homestand on Sunday with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-17) loss to the North Carolina A&T State Aggies in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match at Hill Field House.
Morgan State, which finished the homestand with a split, fell to 8-9, 2-2 in the MEAC, while North Carolina A&T (6-12, 4-0 MEAC) earned its fourth straight win of the season and remained unbeaten in league play. The Aggies also ended a four-match losing skid to Morgan State with the win.Â
Offensively, the Lady Bears had their worst outing of the season. Morgan State recorded 24 kills, but had 25 attack errors on 101 attempts for a season-low -.010. N.C. A&T hit for .200 with 33 kills on 85 attempts with 16 attack errors.
Morgan State managed a set-best nine kills in Set 2, but committed a set-high 11 attack errors for a hitting percentage of -.054. The Aggies recorded a high of 12 kills in both the first and third sets.Â
Courteney Pitt led the visiting Aggies with 10 kills, while Edie Brewer and Fatimah Shabazz each had six kills. Brewer added a match-high 18 assists and Addy Warfield finished with 10. Andrea Laboy-Rivera had a match-high 15 digs in the win.Â
Morgan State's Zoe McBride and Mykaela Ross each recorded a team-high six kills. Jennevy Santos collected 10 digs and Roi Wallace had a match-high 18 assists. Sara Brown recorded a match-high five blocks.Â
Morgan State returns to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 8, when they travel to the Nation's Capital to face Howard in a MEAC Northern Division contest at 6 p.m. at Burr Gymnasium in Washington, D.C.
