NORFOLK, Va. (Oct. 21, 2019)-The Morgan State volleyball team capped off a historic weekend by having three players earn Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Weekly honors as announced by the league office on Monday.

Sophomore Zoe McBride was named MEAC Co-Player of the Week along with Edie Brewer of North Carolina A&T State. It is the fourth player of the week honor for McBride this season.

Senior Roi Wallace was named MEAC Setter of the Week for the fourth time as well, while junior Jennevy Santos, garnered her first-ever MEAC award, as she was named MEAC Defensive Specialist of the Week. North Carolina Central's Alyssa Pieh was named MEAC Rookie of the Week.

McBride averaged 5.2 kills and 2.7 digs per set, while hitting a combined .226 to help Morgan State to a 2-1 week. She also collected her 12th double-double of the season. The Ridgefield, Wash. native began the week totaling 11 kills, nine digs and two service aces in a stunning three-set loss at Norfolk State.

McBride responded with a match-high 25 kills, 15 digs, two aces and a solo block in a five-set win at Bethune-Cookman to help the Lady Bears end a three-match losing skid. She then tallied a match-high 26 kills for a .396 attack percentage, eight digs, two blocks, two assists and a service ace in a win at FAMU. The win ended a 15-match losing skid to FAMU and was the program's first win over the Rattlers since the 2000 MEAC title match. It was also the first regular season victory over the Rattlers since 1995.

Wallace totaled 123 assists, 27 digs, eight service aces and four blocks in three matches for the week, while averaging 10.25 assists per set. She finished with 19 assists, seven digs and three service aces in the loss at Norfolk State, before recording a match-high 52 assists, eight digs, four service aces and three blocks in a five-set victory at Bethune-Cookman.

The San Dimas, Calif. native, concluded the week with a match-high 52 assists and 12 digs to collect her third double-double of the season in a four-set win at Florida A&M, to avenge back-to-back opening round MEAC Tournament losses to the Rattlers the past two seasons.

Santos collected 74 digs for the week for an average of 6.2 digs per set in the three matches. She also added seven assists and one ace. Santos started the week with 17 digs and two assists in a loss at Norfolk State.

A native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Santos, who returned to her home state of Florida where she attended high school and junior college, tallied a career- and match-high 34 digs to go with two assists and an ace in a five-set win at Bethune-Cookman. It was her second 30-dig match this season. She wrapped up the week with a match-high 23 digs and had three assists, as Morgan State ended a 15-match losing skid to FAMU.
