Men’s Tennis Fall to Stetson, 6-1

BALTIMORE, Md. (Jan. 17, 2019) -- Morgan State men's tennis was swept through singles en route to a 6-1 loss to Stetson, Wednesday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
Morgan State (0-2) handled business to earn the doubles point. The tandem of Sebastian Lopez and Oguzhan Ceylan posted a 7-5 win at No. 1 over Linus Bergeviand Clement Hamel (STET) 7-5. And at No. 3, Arjun Ramakrishnan and Serhii Kharchev recorded a 6-2 win against Louis Gorreguesand Coilin MacNamara.

In singles play, the Hatters struck quickly. Christian Mills evened the score with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Shrey Gupta on Court 6, and Coilin MacNamara followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Ramakrishnan at Court 5 as the Hatters gained a 2-1 lead.
 
MSU's Serhii Kharchev was outlasted by Linus Bergevi by a score of 6-3, 6-4 on Court 1 to give the Hatters a 3-1 advantage, and Oguzhan Ceylan's 6-1, 7-5 loss against Tim Gennes clinched the match for the Hatters on Court 4.
 
Stetson's Louis Gorregues (4-6, 6-2, 6-4) and Clement Hamel (5-7, 6-4, 6-2) closed out the day for the Hatters with wins on Courts 3 and 4, respectively.
 
Morgan State returns to action on Friday when the Bears visit Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Florida A&M. FAMU, which went 3-1 in league play last year, was selected to finish second in the Southern Division, picking up four first-place votes.
