Lady Bears Defeat Alabama A&M in Dig The District Invitational, 3-1

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sept. 15, 2018)-Cristen Coryatt recorded a match-high 19 kills and added 10 digs, while Zoe McBride finished with 18 kills and, six digs and had a match-high four service aces to lead Morgan State to a 3-1 victory over Alabama A&M on Saturday in the finale of the Dig The District Invitational at McDonough Arena. It was the first meeting between the two programs.
 
Morgan State (6-8) ended a two-match losing skid with the victory and improved to 10-0 all-time against members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, with three of those wins coming in the last two weekends.
 
Roi Wallace dished out 47 assists and had 10 digs to record a double-double. Kalysia Bates finished with 13 kills and Jasmin Hubbard totaled a match-high 20 digs for Morgan State.
 
The Bulldogs (4-12) were led by Alana Cox, who had a team-leading 12 kills, while Terra Brooks finished with 11 kills and 10 digs to record a double-double. Megan Evan fell shy of a double-double with 27 assists and nine digs. Minae Cenitoz collected a team-best 19 digs, while Meredith Sieck added 12. Jaelin Gant finished with eight kills and 11 digs, as Alabama A&M recorded 68 digs for the match.
 
Alabama A&M held a 9.5-8.0 blocking advantage over Morgan State. Valencia Wilson and Evans each had a team-best five blocks. Ashley Jackson added four. Morgan State was led by Monette Daniels' four blocks to go with seven kills.
 
Morgan State will return to action on Friday, Sept. 21 when they entertain the Aggies of North Carolina A&T State on Day 1 of the Charm City Classic (Sept. 21-22). First serve is at 7 p.m. at Hill Field House. The Lady Bears will conclude the tournament on Saturday, Sept. 22 against South Carolina State at 1 p.m.
