BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 13, 2018)-With the impact of Hurricane Florence resulting in the cancelation of many sporting events this weekend, the Morgan State volleyball team was also affected. The Lady Bears were suppose to compete in the 2nd Colonial Classic (Sept. 14-15) in Williamsburg, Va., hosted by William & Mary. With that tournament being canceled, the Lady Bears will now travel to Washington, D.C. to compete in the Dig The District Invitational co-hosted by Georgetown and George Washington Universities.
Morgan State, along with Loyola Maryland will replace former Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference member, Hampton in this week's tournament. Hampton's athletic department suspended competition for all teams through next Tuesday due to the storm.
The Lady Bears (5-6) will open up the tournament on Friday, Sept. 2, when they square off against the Georgetown Hoyas at 2 p.m. in McDonough Arena. Morgan State will then head over to George Washington to take on the Colonials in a nightcap at 7 p.m. at the Charles E. Smith Center. Morgan State will conclude the tournament on Saturday, Sept. 15 with a 3 p.m. contest against Alabama A&M at McDonough Arena.
Morgan State enters the weekend searching for its first wins ever against both Georgetown (0-4) and George Washington (0-7). This will be the first meeting against Alabama A&M.
