TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Feb. 11, 2018)-The Morgan State women's basketball team will look to go 2-0 on its current road trip when it visits the Lady Rattlers of Florida A&M (FAMU) on Monday evening at the Al Lawson Center.
A win by the Lady Bears will also give Morgan State a home-and-home season series sweep over FAMU for the first time since 2008-09 campaign, when the Lady Bears won both games. Morgan State ended a three-game losing streak to FAMU when it claimed a 61-56 win in the first meeting this season in Baltimore (Jan. 6). The Lady Rattlers lead the all-time series, 35-14.
Morgan State (13-11, 6-5 MEAC) enters the contest sitting in sixth-place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) standings after Saturday's 70-41 win at Savannah State.
Seniors
Lexus Spears and
Tykyrah Williams each scored 19 points in the win. Fellow senior
Braennan Farrar finished with 10 points and Georgia native
Aunesha Williams came off the bench to grab a game-high nine rebounds, while dishing out a game-high five assists and totaling three steals.
The Lady Bears have been led by Spears, who is averaging 13.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Farrar is scoring 12 points a game and

Adre'onia Coleman is scoring just under 10 points at 9.8 per game and is grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game.
FAMU (5-19, 3-8 MEAC), which sits in 12th in the league standings, is coming off an 84-81 overtime victory over visiting North Carolina Central on Saturday. The win ended a five-game losing skid for the Lady Rattlers.
The Lady Rattlers were led by Florence Quattara, who scored 20 points, while Ecenur Yurdakul and Shakeyrra Morrison each added 17 points. Morrison grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to record a double-double, while Dy'Manee Royal pulled down 10 boards. De'Ayra Davis came off the bench to score 13 points and had a game-high three blocks.
FAMU shot 41 free throw attempts and made 23 against North Carolina Central for 56 percent, while the visiting Eagles took 23 free throws and made 16 (69 percent).
Florida A&M has been led by Quattara, who is averaging 14.6 points per game and leads the Lady Rattlers in assists (63) and steals. Morrison is pulling down a team-best 9.4 rebounds per outing, while Burney-Robinson is scoring 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds.
Monday's contest will mark the final game for Spears back in her home state of Florida. The Jacksonville native was not recruited by Florida A&M nor the MEAC's other Florida school, Bethune-Cookman.
"Neither team was recruiting me. My high school coach talked to me about maybe walking on at FAMU, but I knew I was way too talented to be anyone's walk-on," said Spears. "I honestly don't know how so many teams missed me. All I can say is their loss and focus on pulling in these wins."
"It's an honor to be able to travel back to the home state and put on a show for the people who watched by prosper as a basketball player," added Spears. "Everything I do, I do for my family and the people who have always wanted to see me win."
