WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sept. 5, 2017)-Aleksandra Kazala recorded a match-high 16 kills, as host American defeated Morgan State, 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-13) in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening at Bender Arena.

Kennedy Etheridge finished with a match-high 23 assists and Hoakalei Dawson had a team-high seven digs for the Eagles, who extended their season-long winning streak to four straight.

American (5-3) recorded 39 kills on 80 attempts with 11 errors for a hitting percentage of .350 for the match. The Eagles jumped out on Morgan State early in the opening set, totaling 14 kills on 23 attempts and just three errors for a set-high .478 hitting percentage. In that set, American would hold the Lady Bears to just four kills.

Morgan State (1-6) was limited to a .012 hitting percentage for the match. The Lady Bears finished the match with 20 kills on 84 attempts and 19 errors.

Cristen Coryatt led Morgan State with eight kills.
Roi Wallace totaled 15 assists and also led the Lady Bears with a match-high eight digs.

The Eagles held a 6.0-4.0 advantage over Morgan State in blocks. Helena Elbaek led American with a match-high four blocks, including one solo.
Monette Daniels led Morgan State with three blocks.

The Lady Bears return to action this weekend when they take part in the Fairfield Inn & Suites Charm City Classic hosted by Loyola-Maryland (Sept. 8-9). Morgan State will open up on Friday against UMBC at 12:30 p.m., before closing out the evening against the host Greyhounds at 7 p.m. The Lady Bears will conclude competition on Saturday with a noon match-up against Presbyterian.
