BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 4, 2017)-Morgan State senior
Ivy Harrington came off the bench to score a team-high eight points and
Braennan Farrar also had eight points, as the Lady Bears held off visiting North Carolina Central (NCCU) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) on Saturday afternoon at Hill Field House.
The win ended a season-long 13-game losing streak for the Lady Bears, as well as an 11-game MEAC losing streak dating back to last season. Ironically, Morgan State's last regular-season league win came last season also against NCCU in Baltimore (2/20).
Saturday's win was a total group effort for Morgan State (3-19, 1-8 MEAC), which improved to 10-4 all-time against NCCU.
Tykyrah Williams and
Chelsea Mitchell each scored seven points,
Jihayah Chavis added six.
Zuri White grabbed a game-high seven rebounds and Williams finished with six rebounds.
N.C. Central (3-16, 2-6 MEAC), which has now lost its last six games, was led by Deja McCain, who shot 4-for-7 and finished with a game-high 13 points. Morgan Jones recorded 10 points, while Kierona Morton added seven points and a game-high seven rebounds.
The Lady Bears will conclude their three-game homestand with a MEAC match-up against Delaware State on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. at Hill Field House. The Hornets dropped a 72-58 decision on Saturday in Daytona Beach, Fla.
