Lady Bears Visit Delaware State On Sunday

BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 5, 2017)-The Morgan State volleyball team will look to get back on track when it travels to Dover, Del. to take on the Hornets of Delaware State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division contest Sunday afternoon at Memorial Hall. First serve is at 3 p.m.

Morgan State (5-17, 4-5 MEAC) leads the all-time series, 44-14. The Lady Bears swept Delaware State earlier this season on homecoming in Baltimore (10/15).

Cristen Coryatt recorded a match-high 16 kills, eight digs and two service aces to lead Morgan State in the 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-20) victory in the first meeting. The Lady Bears would also get strong offensive performances out of Natashia Barker and Keana Browne. Barker finished with a double-double of 10 kills and a match-high 18 digs, while Browne added 10 kills and had a team-high .444 attack percentage. Mykaela Ross had 10 digs, three kills and a match-high three service aces, while Roi Wallace finished with a match-high 37 assists and nine digs.

Delaware State was led by Sydney Armbrister, who finished with eight kills and a match-high six blocks, including two solo blocks against Morgan State. Mayah Ngundam added five blocks to help the Hornets hold a 7.0-2.0 blocking advantage over Morgan State. Gabriella Enriquez totaled 21 assists. Alliyah McBean had a team-best 14 digs and Taula Leimaluhia added 11 digs.

The Lady Bears enter Sunday's rematch coming off a 3-0 home loss on Friday to Maryland Eastern Shore. The loss ended a season-long two-match winning streak for Morgan State and was its first during the second half of the league schedule.

Keana Browne and Natashia Barker each had five kills to lead the Lady Bears. Jasmine Hubbard recorded a match-high 12 digs and Mykaela Ross added 10. Roi Wallace finished with 14 assists in the loss.

Delaware State (3-22, 3-6 MEAC) is coming off a 3-1 (24-26, 21-25, 25-18, 22-25) loss at home to Coppin State on Friday. Sabina Szmajduch led the Hornets with 14 kills, while Kiera Holtzclaw added 10 on a hitting percentage of .316 and had six blocks. Alliyah McBean finished with 21 digs and Gabriella Enriquez totaled 38 assists.
