BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 29, 2016)-Fresh off its come-from-behind five-set victory over Hampton on Friday night, Morgan State will welcome the Norfolk State Spartans to Hill Field House for a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest on Sunday at 3 p.m.

The match will also be the Lady Bears' annual Dig Pink event to bring awareness to breast cancer. This year's honoree will be former VP of Business Services at Morgan State, Vinetta Paige McCullough, who will also serve as the guest coach for Morgan State on Sunday.

McCullough was diagnosed with breast cancer Homecoming 2016. A year later during Homecoming 2017 she was designated cancer free.

"I give all honor, glory and praise to God Almighty for his supernatural strength, peace and joy, his healing power, his wisdom and direction and especially the amazing support system that he put in place to undergird me during the process of treatment, recovery and forever," said McCullough. "This journey started out in the Valley, but has ended as a Mountaintop experience. There are two important things I've learned while in the Valley, it's only temporary and it's purposeful. I'm now looking forward to encouraging others through my testimony."

The Lady Bears (4-16, 3-4 MEAC) enter Sunday's contest coming off a 3-2 (25-27, 30-28, 18-25, 25-22, 15-13) defeat of visiting Hampton on Friday night. Trailing 2-1, Morgan State bounced back to win the fourth set and force a decisive fifth set. Hampton held an 8-5 lead in Set 5 when the teams switched sides and also led 13-12, but Morgan Stat scored the final three points to win the match.

Cristen Coryatt led Morgan State with 16 kills and Natashia Barker fell shy of a double-double with 12 kills and nine digs. Keana Browne added 11 kills. Roi Wallace finished with 43 assists and Jasmin Hubbard recorded a team-high 16 digs. Mykaela Ross fell short of a double-double with 11 digs and nine kills.

The Lady Bears held a 14.0-10.0 blocking advantage over the Lady Pirates. Browne led the way with a match- and career-high eight blocks, including two solos. Her eight blocks surpassed her previous high of seven, which also came against Hampton (10/20/16). Monette Daniels and Ross each added six blocks, while Barker finished with four.

Norfolk State (3-19, 0-8 MEAC) is coming off a 3-1 (25-14, 24-26, 20-25, 20-25) loss at Coppin State on Friday. It was the 11th straight loss this season for the Spartans.

Freshman Taylor Eichelberger set a school record with a match-high 28 kills and hit for a .460 to lead the Spartans. Eichelberger also added five digs and four blocks. Melvina Brown added 11 kills and 12 digs and Tori Tulensru finished with 11 digs. Jill Aquion recorded a match-high 39 assists.

Morgan State has won the last five meetings and leads the all-time series against Norfolk State, 20-5. The Lady Bears won the first meeting this season, 3-2 (25-23, 25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 15-7) in Norfolk, Va. on Oct. 1.
