BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 20, 2017)-Asia Stennis recorded a team-high 14 kills and Marlena Guice added nine to lead host Coppin State to a 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-23, 25-16) Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division victory over rival Morgan State on Friday night at the Physical Education Complex Arena.

The victory put an end to a five-match losing skid, as the Lady Eagles (2-21, 2-4 MEAC) improved to 11-61 all-time against Morgan State. More importantly, Coppin State closed out the first half of the conference schedule with the victory and now holds the tiebreaker over Morgan State.

Dominique Madarang tallied 35 assists, eight digs and four kills for Coppin State. Bailee Jackson finished with a team-high 13 digs, while Glorines Rosado finished with 11 digs. The Eagles held a 5.0-3.0 blocking advantage over Morgan State. Valiyah Barnes had a match-high three blocks and Stennis and Christa Johnson each had two blocks. Â Â

Morgan State's loss put somewhat of a damper on the performances of several Lady Bears. Keana Browne totaled a match-high 16 kills. Natashia Barker added 15 kills and Cristen Coryatt earned a
double-double with 14 kills and a match-high 14 digs to record her double-double. Roi Wallace finished with a match-high 48 assists, and nine digs.

The Lady Bears outperformed Coppin State in nearly every statistical category, but still came away with a loss. Morgan State finished the match with 50 kills to 44 by Coppin. The Lady Bears also held a .233-.226 attack percentage over Coppin and tallied eight more digs (50-42) over the hosts.
However, for the Lady Bears, they would again be hindered by their serve. Morgan State, which committed 20 attack errors, would also have 16 service errors on the evening.

The Lady Bears (3-16, 2-4 MEAC) return to action next Friday, Oct. 27 when they host Hampton. First serve is at 7 p.m. at Hill Field House.
