Morgan State Drops Home Opener Doubleheader To Delaware Blue Hens

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 31, 2016)-If there's one thing known about sports, it's that the numbers don't lie. And when it comes to Morgan State softball playing at Coppin State Field, the numbers aren't pretty.

This season the Morgan State softball team will have to split their home games between Coppin State University and Stevenson University, while the Lady Bears' Lois T Murray Field gets a much needed facelift.

After having its 2016 home opener against Brown was called off due to poor field conditions, the Lady Bears returned to Coppin State Field on Wednesday afternoon, where they finally had their home opener against the visiting Blue Hens of Delaware.

Morgan State would fall in the non-conference doubleheader series by the scores of 5-2 and 8-0. The losses would drop the Lady Bears to 2-16 all-time at Coppin State Field since it opened in 2010.

Delaware improved to 17-12 this season and 5-0 all-time against Morgan State. The Lady Bears, who have now lost four straight games, fell to 5-20 on the year.

The Lady Bears return to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this Saturday, April 2, when they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the Howard Lady Bison in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. The two teams will complete the series with a single game on Sunday at noon. All three games will be played at Washington Nationals Jr. Park., located at the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy.
