Penn State pulls away from Bears 96-55

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. --  Lamar Stevens scored 20 points and Penn State beat Morgan State 96-55 on Wednesday night at Bryce Jordan Center.

Tony Carr and Payton Banks added 11 apiece and Mike Watkins, Shep Garner and Julian Moore scored 10 each for Penn State (8-5), which has won two straight.

Junior forward Phillip Carr led Morgan State (3-8) with 19 points (6-11 FG) and senior Kyle Thomas added 14 points, nine rebounds and two blocks.

It was the sixth loss in the last seven games for the Bears, who played their second straight without leading scorer Tiwian Kendley.

Penn State used a 23-10 run to take a 49-29 halftime lead and never led by less than 18 in the second half.

Morgan State shot 32 percent (18-56) from the field and was 5-of-17 from 3-point territory. Penn State shot 46.6 percent (34-73) and outscored the Bears by a 27-11 margin in fastbreak points and held a 39-12 advantage in bench point production.

NEXT UP: The Bears make a west coast swing when they travel to take on Loyola Marymount on December 27, followed by a meeting at California State, Northridge on December 29.
