Morgan State Closes Out Regular Season At Rival Coppin State

BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 5, 2016)-The Morgan State volleyball team will close out the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 6 when they visit crosstown rival Coppin State. First serve is slated for 3 p.m.

Morgan State (6-20, 6-5 MEAC), which is currently third in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division standings, is coming off a 3-0 defeat on Friday night against defending MEAC champion, Howard.

Natashia Barker tallied nine kills and had eight digs against the Lady Bison, who claimed their third straight division title, while wrapping up the No. 1 seed out of the northern division, following a perfect 12-0 mark.

Milan Amos finished with six kills and six digs, both career highs and Michaela Collins had eight digs. Jasmine Hubbard totaled a team-best nine digs and Roi Wallace collected a match-high 20 assists.

Coppin State (2-23, 2-9 MEAC) has lost its last three contests, including a 3-1 loss at home to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore last Sunday.

Jasmine Lougheed had a team-high 10 kills and Guro Froberg added nine kills and 12 digs in the loss. Glorines Rosado led the Eagles with a match-high 14 digs and Dominique Madarang finished with 24 assists to go with nine digs.

Sunday's finale will mark the 71st meeting between the two programs with Morgan State holding a 60-10 all-time series lead. Morgan State, which has won five of the last nine meetings with Coppin State, swept the Eagles in the first meeting this season at Hill Field House (10/14). 

Barker tallied a match-high 17 kills and added 12 digs in the win over Coppin State to record her first double-double of the season. Barker would record a match-high .452 hitting percentage with just three attack errors on 31 attempts. Haley McClure fell shy of a double-double, finishing with 10 digs and nine kills, while Keana Browne also added nine kills. Hubbard tied a season-high 19 digs and Wallace totaled a match-high 39 assists.
