SATURDAY’S SAVANNAH STATE/MORGAN STATE FOOTBALL CONTEST POSTPONED

NORFOLK, Va. - Saturday's Oct. 8 Savannah State home football contest versus Morgan State has been postponed.

Savannah State University is closed beginning at 3 p.m. today through Monday, Oct. 10 due to the weather threat posed by Hurricane Matthew and the State of Emergency for the state of Georgia issued by Governor Nathan Deal. The Morgan State/Savannah State contest is being rescheduled.

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) is actively monitoring the weather forecasts in the areas Hurricane Matthew may potentially affect.

"Our top priority is the well-being and safety of the student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff, ancillary units and fans. As a result, we are in daily discussions with the institutions in the areas that may be impacted and we will adjust games, dates and times accordingly. We will continue to keep the public informed of potential changes," said MEAC Commissioner Dr. Dennis E. Thomas.
