BALTIMORE, Md. -- Xavier Lundy scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds as Rider University posted a 71-49 wire-to-wire win against Morgan State on Wednesday night at Hill Field House.
Lundy finished with 5-of-9 shooting including three from distance for the Broncs (3-9). Khalil Thomas added 12 points with 10 rebounds and Jimmie Taylor and Khalil Alford chipped in nine points apiece. Rider averaged 55.3 percent shooting from the field and made 14-of-27 (51.9 percent) from beyond the arc.
The Broncs used a 10-2 run to take a 23-13 lead with 6:26 left in the half. They led 38-22 at the break.
In the second half, Rider out-scored Morgan State 14-5, six points each by Taylor and Teddy Okereafor, to take a 53-31 lead with 13:00 left to play. The Broncs continued to pour it on and Alford drained the team's 14th 3-pointer to extend the Broncs lead to 65-35 with 7:56 remaining.
Morgan State (2-8) senior forward Cedric Blossom compiled his first double-double of the season by leading the Bears with 17 points (8-15 FG) and 12 rebounds. Kyle Thomas added 10 points and Donte Pretlow had six points and a game high six assists.
The Bears shot a season low 26 percent from the field and shot a frigid 3-of-28 (10.7 percent) from 3-point territory.
Next up: Morgan State will host the California Riverside in non-conference action on Monday, Dec. 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Hill Field House. The game will mark the second meeting between the teams.
