WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 6, 2015)-Keana Browne tallied a match-high 15 kills and Dinah Jones added 10 for Morgan State, but it wasn't enough, as host Howard defeated the Lady Bears, 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-19) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division match on Friday night at Burr Gymnasium.
With the win, Howard (15-13, 11-1 MEAC) concluded the regular season as the northern division regular season champions and earned a season split against Morgan State. The Lady Bison will be the No. 1 seed out of the northern division heading into the MEAC Volleyball Championship Tournament in Princess Anne, Md. (Nov. 20-22).Â
Khaila Donaldson finished with a team-high 14 kills and added nine digs, while Katherine Broussard earned a double-double with 13 kills and a team- and match-high 10 digs. Tamia Dockery totaled 24 assists and Briana Jackson added 13 assists.
Morgan State (11-14, 8-3 MEAC), which sits in the second spot in the league standings, received 32 assists from Carmen Fernandez and Minja Rankov totaled a team-high nine digs. Browne, who recorded a team-high .667 hitting percentage, also led the Lady Bears with three blocks. Arianna Hayden added two blocks to go with six digs.
Howard held an 8.0-3.0 blocking advantage over Morgan State. Dominique Cleggett recorded four blocks to lead the Lady Bison. Joi Walls had three blocks and Janaya Hampton also added three, including one solo block.
