Box Score GREENVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 6, 2014)-The East Carolina volleyball team probably didn't expect to be in the type of fight that they were in with Morgan State. But in the end the host Pirates were able to hold on for a 3-2 (22-25, 25-7, 25-19, 14-25, 15-11) victory over Morgan State on Saturday night in the finale of the East Carolina Invitational.

With the win, East Carolina finished the tournament with a perfect 3-0 mark, to tie UNC Wilmington for first-place and co-champions of the tournament. The two teams did not play each other in the tournament.

Morgan State (2-5) on the other hand went 1-2 for the weekend and fell to 2-5 all-time against ECU.

Arianna Hayden led the Lady Bears with a match-high 15 kills and added seven digs. Hayden would be named to the all-tournament team, her second straight honor this season. Last week she was named to the Charlotte Invitational tournament team.

Evely Macedo fell shy of a double-double with 12 kills and nine digs, while
Samantha Prescott added 11 kills and seven digs.
Minja Rankov tallied a team-high 15 digs for the Lady Bears.
Carmen Fernandez notched a season- and match-high 46 assists in the loss.

East Carolina was led by Ashton Mares' 13 kills and seven digs and a match-high five service aces. Sydney Darden tallied a double-double with 12 kills and a match-high 17 digs for the Pirates.
