Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 30, 2014)-Samantha Prescott tallied a match-high 16 kills, while Zuri Smith and Arianna Hayden added 13 and 11 kills respectively, to lead Morgan State to a 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23) non-conference victory over Sacramento State on Saturday morning at Halton Arena.
The win, which was the Lady Bears' first of the season, as well as the Charlotte Invitational, was also Morgan State's first win ever over the Hornets in four meetings.
Minja Rankov added finished with a team-high 16 digs and Evely Macedo added 11 digs to go with eight kills. Carmen Fernandez recorded a match-high 45 assists.
Sacramento State was led by Madeline Cannon and Sloan Lovett, who both finished with 13 kills apiece. Lexie Skalbeck had a match-high 22 digs and totaled a match-high five service aces. Kennedy Kurtz finished with 42 assists.
The Lady Bears return to action later this evening for a 3:30 p.m. when they close out the Charlotte Invitational with a non-conference match against Greensboro (1-1).
