Bear Strong: Morgan State Volleyball To End Camp With Saturday’s Orange & Blue Scrimmage

BALTIMORE, Md. (August 23, 2014)-The Morgan State volleyball team will conclude its 2014 training camp this afternoon with the annual Orange & Blue scrimmage. First serve is at 3 p.m. at Hill Field House. The scrimmage is open to the public.

Last season the Lady Bears finished with a 12-13 overall mark and went 7-5 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) North Division. Despite wins over the top three teams in the division, including a 3-0 sweep of eventual division and tournament champion Hampton, the Lady Bears fell one win shy of advancing to the league tournament, as they finished in fifth-place. Only the top four teams in each division advance to the tournament.

Led by Ramona Riley-Bozier, who enters her 27th season at the helm and is the school's all-time winningest coach with 400 career victories, Morgan State returns seven letterwinners, including five starters from a year ago. The squad also welcomed six newcomers, three of which are transfers and three freshmen.

The Lady Bears, who were picked to finish fourth in this year's MEAC North Division preseason poll, begin the season next weekend at the Charlotte Invitational (Aug. 29-30) in Charlotte, N.C. Morgan State will face East Tennessee State in a first-ever meeting on Friday at 9 a.m., before taking on host Charlotte at 2:30 p.m. The Lady Bears close out the tournament on Saturday with non-conference matches against Sacramento State at 9:30 a.m. and UNC Greensboro at 4:30 p.m. All matches will be played at Halton Arena on the Charlotte campus.
