(Oct. 19, 2014)-Cindy Okpegbue totaled a match-high 18 kills, Gabrielle Otero tallied a match-high 19 digs and Chelsee Sauni finished with a match-high 53 assists, as Coppin State defeated visiting Morgan State, 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 22-25, 25-11, 15-12) in an exciting Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) North Division match at the Physical Education Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The win helped the Eagles (10-10, 4-3 MEAC) avenge an earlier road loss this season to Morgan State in the conference opener (9/26) and moved them into a tie with the Lady Bears for third-place in the league standings.

Ariel Richard and Maya Horner added 13 and 11 kills, respectively, and Bailee Jackson recorded 10 digs for Coppin State, which has spilt the last six meetings against Morgan State.

As for Morgan State (11-9, 4-3 MEAC), the Lady Bears suffered back-to-back losses for just the second time this season and the first since dropping two straight on opening day (Aug. 29) at the 49er Invitational in Charlotte.

Samantha Prescott led the Lady Bears with 15 kills and added 10 digs to record a double-double.
Dinah Jones hit for a team-high .478 and had 13 kills, while
Arianna Hayden also had 13 kills.
Carmen Fernandez notched a double-double with 48 assists and 12 digs.
Tamara Leslie finished with a team-high 15 digs for the Lady Bears.

After dropping the first set by a score of 25-19, the Lady Bears regrouped to take a 2-1 lead, following a 25-21 win in the second set and a 25-22 victory in Set 3. Coppin State would shut the visitors down in the fourth set with a 25-11 victory and held on for a 15-12 win in the fifth and decisive set.

Morgan State finished the match with a hitting percentage of .243 with 59 kills on 148 attempts and recorded 61 digs. Coppin State, which also recorded 59 kills, had 147 attempts for a .265 hitting percentage. Both teams tallied 55 assists and totaled six blocks.

The Lady Bears will travel to the Tidewater area of Virginia this weekend for a Friday evening match up against Norfolk State (0-19, 0-7 MEAC) at 7 p.m. at Echols Hall. Morgan State will then face MEAC North leader and defending champion Hampton (11-9, 6-0 MEAC) on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. at Holland Hall.
