Box Score GREENVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 7, 2013)-Nicole Wills notched a double-double with a match-high 12 kills and 10 digs to lead host East Carolina to a 3-0 (25-14, 27-25, 26-24) sweep of Morgan State on Day 2 of the East Carolina Classic on Saturday at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

The Pirates (2-3), who are on a two-match winning streak, also got a 20-dig performance from Shelby Beasley and 27 assists out of Zarah Cecich in the win. The victory gives East Carolina a 4-2 all-time advantage over the Lady Bears.

Morgan State (0-5) was led by
Samantha Prescott's nine kills and 10 digs.
Tamara Leslie tallied a team-high 19 digs, while
Ngebui Chafeh finished with 27 assists.

Morgan State scored the first two points of the opening set, before watching the host Pirates go on a 10-0 spurt to take control. The Lady Bears got within five points at 12-7 after an ace from Chafeh, but would get no closer. East Carolina would use a 7-2 run to extend its lead to 19-9 and went on to win 25-14.
Janelle Wilson led the Lady Bears with three of their eight kills, while ECU was led by Willis, who had five of the Pirates' 12 kills in the set.

Set 2 was back-and-forth until the Pirates used an 8-2 run to break a 9-9 score and take a 17-11 lead. Two consecutive service aces by
Haley McClure sparked a 9-2 run by the Lady Bears, which was capped off with a kill by
Zuri Smith, giving the guests a 20-19 advantage. ECU responded and took a 24-21 lead, but the Lady Bears would not go away, scoring three straight points to even the score at 24 all.
Arianna Hayden tied the score at 25 all with her kill, but a service error on the Lady Bears gave the lead and the ball back to ECU. The Pirates would end the set with a kill for the 27-25 victory.

Much like the day before, the Lady Bears seemed to be refreshed in the third set after finding themselves facing a 2-0 deficit. Morgan State scored seven straight points to jump out to an 8-2 lead. But just as quickly as the Lady Bears built their lead, ECU had stormed back, scoring five points to pull within 8-7. Morgan State extended its lead to 12-8, but a 5-0 run by the Pirates gave them a 13-12 lead over Morgan State. The teams would trade leads back-and-forth until the Pirates went up 23-21 and held a 24-22 advantage. Morgan State fought back to tie the contest at 24 and even had chances to perhaps pull out the win, but would fall 26-24.

The Lady Bears, who committed 13 service errors in Friday's opener against Loyola Chicago, had just three today and tallied nine service aces. McClure and Chafeh each had three aces apiece.

ECU held an 8.0-6.0 with Virginia Fitch recording a match-high seven blocks. Morgan State was led by Wilson and Smith, who each had three blocks.

The Lady Bears will wrap up the 2013 East Carolina Classic with a 4:30 p.m. match against The Citadel. The Bulldogs (0-5) are also winless in their previous two matches of the tournament. ECU will take on Loyola Chicago in the title match at 7 p.m.
