PHIL STEELE’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL MAGAZINE NAMES THREE BEARS TO PRESEASON ALL-MEAC TEAM

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Phil Steele's College Football Preview magazine, the nation's most informative preseason football publication for both FBS and FCS coverage, has selected three Morgan State University Bears to the Phil Steele's 2013 Preseason All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Team.

Senior defensive back Joseph Rankin, junior linebacker Christopher Robinson and junior wide receiver Andrew King were all named to the Preseason All-MEAC Second Team.

Rankin, a 2012 All-MEAC selection, ranked tied in the MEAC with 5 interceptions (T-1st), 11 pass deflections (T-4th) to go along with 46 tackles and blocked a field goal last season. His interception in the season-finale against Hampton gave Rankin his 10th of his career.

Robinson, a Baltimore native and a physical education major with a 3.53 GPA, returns to anchor the Bears defense this fall. He also earned a starting spot on the Bears defense as a walk-on in 2012, after recording 40 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks.

King returns as the Bears' top receiver. The Columbia, Md. product started in every game last season and led the squad with 25 receptions for 334 yards, including a pair of touchdowns.

Phil Steele's College Football Preview magazine also listed FCS Preseason Position Rankings that included six Eagles. The publication listed Joseph Rankin as the No. 13 cornerback, sophomore, senior Chris Flowers as the No. 24 kick returner, Damarco Bisbee as the No. 33 defensive tackle, redshirt-junior Christopher Robinson as the No. 74 linebacker, and junior Andrew King as the No. 82 wide receiver linebacker.

The Bears will open the 2013 season on August 30 at Michie Stadium in West Point (N.Y.) against the Army Black Knights.
The game will mark the first of a four-game road swing that includes trips to Robert Morris (Sept. 7), Liberty (Sept. 14) and Western Kentucky (Sept. 21).

MSU will open Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action on Sept. 28 with Norfolk State making their way to Hughes Stadium.

Season tickets to MSU's four home games are still available for purchase online at www.morganstatebears.com or at the MSU Ticket Office (443-885-1522).
