DOVER, Del. (April 7, 2013)-The Delaware State softball team overcame a four-run deficit, by scoring 12 unanswered runs to complete a three-game series sweep of visiting Morgan State, following a 12-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) victory in six innings on Sunday afternoon at the Hornets Nest.
The Lady Bears (2-27, 0-6 MEAC), who have now dropped 15 straight games, jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with three runs in the first inning and another in the second.

Kimber Salvas later scored on a throwing error and
Danielle Lugo scored the third run on a throwing error.
Morgan State went back to work in the second when Nicole Vandenberg scored on an RBI single from Salvas to extend the Lady Bears lead to 4-0.
However, it would be all Delaware State from that point on. The Hornets (10-21, MEAC) would pull within a run after scoring three runs in the third inning to make it a 4-3 game. Rochelle Sablay singled to center field to drive in two runs and Ashley Bennett drew a bases loaded walk, which scored Sablay for the Hornets third run.
Delaware State evened the score at 4-4 in the fourth when Sandy Hawthorne singled to right field to score Chloe Oro. The Hornets then took the lead with four runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to go up 12-4 and end the game due to the eight-run rule.
Kimberly Fontaine led the Lady Bears with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, including a double, while Salvas went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI.
The Hornets were led by Nicole Gazzollan, who went 3-for-5 with 2RBI and a run scored, while Sablay was 2-for-4 with a run and 4RBI. Oro finished 2-for-2 with 2RBI and a game-high four runs scored.
Morgan State returns to action this weekend when they play host to Norfolk State on Saturday, April 13-Sunday, April 14 at Lois T. Murray Field.
