The victory helped the Lady Bears win the weekend series, by taking two of three from the Lady Hawks and moved them into a tie for fifth-place with UMES. Morgan State however, holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over UMES.
The Lady Hawks (12-32, 4-11 MEAC), who were honoring their three seniors on 'Senior Day' wasted no time loading the bases. Back-to-back walks by Morgan King and Emily Diseroad, gave the hosts a 2-0 lead. Carmen Frazier then followed with a two-run single to extend the Lady Hawks lead to 4-0.
Morgan State (7-32, 4-10), which for the past two weeks has been fighting for its postseason life, would get on the board with a run in the top of the second inning, before scoring four more in the third to take a 5-4 lead.

The hosts would reclaim the lead, 7-5 with three runs in the fourth when Trenece Nash hit a three-run homer for the Lady Hawks.
Morgan State would not go away, as it responded with six runs in the top of the fifth inning on four hits, helped by three UMES errors to take the lead for good at 11-7. Fontaine singled to drive in the first run of the inning. A walk by Holguin was followed by
Shanice Crowder reaching on an error on the left fielder to load the bases.
Shareday Christina reached on a fielder's choice to bring Fontaine in for another run. Lugo later doubled to score two more runs, to give Morgan a 10-7 lead. Lugo would eventually score the sixth run of the inning when
Kimber Salvas grounded out to second base, to extend the guests lead to four runs.
Both teams would each add a run in the sixth inning for the game's final score.
A day after hitting her first collegiate homerun, Holguin would pick up her first win of the season as a pitcher. Holguin, who replaced starting pitcher
Jordan Eades in the first inning with just one out, would pitch 6.2 innings, giving up four runs on eight hits, four walks and a strikeout to improve to 1-11 on the season. Morgan State will return to action on Wednesday, May 1 when they host Howard in a single game at 5 p.m. at Lois T. Murray Field. The game, which is a makeup game from their three-game series two weeks ago, which was rained out, will give Morgan State's three seniors one final home contest.
