Stewart Signed by Bears

BALTIMORE, Md. – Former Morgan State defensive end Zary Stewart has signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Chicago Bears.
 
“This is a great opportunity and I feel honored to be blessed to have the opportunity to play with the Chicago Bears,” Stewart said. 

“The Chicago Bears are a great organization and I plan on making the most of this great opportunity.”
 
A native of Upper Marlboro, Md., Stewart was a three-year letterwinner and starter for the Bears during the 2009, 2010 and 2011 campaigns after transferring to Morgan State from Syracuse University.
 
The 6-4, 255 pounder completed his career with 134 total tackles (69 solo), including 28 stops for lost yardage and nine sacks.
 
This past season, Stewart finished the season with 40 tackles, including eight tackles for loss and two sacks. He led MSU's defensive line in total stops and ranked seventh overall in tackles.
 
Stewart ranked sixth among Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference players in sacks per game (0.55) and was ninth in tackles for loss per game (1.18).
 
He was rated the 18th best prospect in Maryland by scout.com coming out of high school and received offers from Maryland, Kansas State, Rutgers, Louisville, Cincinnati and Syracuse.
