BALTIMORE, Md.  --- Marques Oliver scored the game-winning basket on a follow-up as time expired to give Delaware State a 74-73 win over Morgan State in a barnburner at Hill Field House.

The Bears slipped to 5-18 overall and 3-9 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and extended its losing streak to six games. Delaware State won their seventh straight game to improve to 11-11 overall and 8-3 in the MEAC.

Morgan State led 73-72, but lost the ball on a turnover with 11.6 seconds left. After two timeouts by the Bears, Delaware State's Jay Threatt dribbled the length of the court before missing a 16-foot jumper from the left wing. Oliver out-fought two Morgan State players for the rebound, then put up a short shot off the glass and into the basket as time expired before being mobbed by his teammates at mid-court.

Delaware State snapped a five-game losing streak at Morgan State, winning a Hill Field House for the first time since Jan. 8, 2007 (68-61).

Tahj Tate led five Delaware State players in double figures with a game-high 24 points. Tyshawn Bell and Casey Walker added 13 each for the Hornets. Jay Threatt orchestrated the Hornets' offense and finished with 12 points and a game-high nine assists.

DeWayne Jackson came off the bench to lead the Bears with 16 points. Ian Chiles had 15 points (7-10 FG) and Justin Black added 12 points with three assists.    

Morgan State led 36-31 at the half, and opened up a 57-46 lead on a lay-up by Shaquille Duncan with 10:01 left to play.

Delaware State answered with a 12-2 run, and pulled to within 59-58 on a three-pointer by Tate with 7:20 remaining in the game.   

The Bears shot 50 percent from the field (28-56) outrebounded Delaware State by a 35-28 margin. 

“I'm encouraged by the guy's effort,” said MSU head coach Todd Bozeman. “We'll just have to keep pushing at it.”
“I tip my hat off to Delaware State, and I thought our guys made a great effort here and we just have to keep pushing.”
