Three Bears Selected To All-MEAC Team

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Three Morgan State Bears were recognized when the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Teams were released today with Travis Davidson, Joe Rankin and Elandon Roberts selected to the second team.
 
Davidson, a senior from Redford, Mich., made his second appearance on the All-conference team after being a second team selection in his first season as a Bear. “Juice” made an immediate impact ever since joining the Blue and Orange and completed the season ranked No. 3 in the MEAC in rushing with 206 carries for 958 yards (4.7 avg) and 12 touchdowns. He had seven 100-yard games, and leaves as the school's No. 8 running back in school history with 1,690 career yards.
 
Rankin, a junior from Germantown, Md., ranked tied in the MEAC with 5 interceptions (T-1st), 11 pass deflections (T-4th) to go along with 46 tackles and blocked a field goal. His interception in the season-finale against Hampton gave Rankin his 10th of his career.
 
Roberts, a freshman from Port Arthur, Texas, was named to the second team after recording 107 tackles (Ranked in No. 2 in the MEAC) to go along with 8.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in 11 starts. Roberts is one of 20 finalists for the Jerry Rice Award, which goes to the top FCS freshman.
 
Overall, the Bears finished with a 3-8 record and a 2-6 mark in MEAC competition.

Delaware State quarterback Nick Elko was named MEAC Offensive Player of the Year, while Keith Pough of Howard was named Defensive Player of the Year. Howard's Damon Gresham Chisholm was named the MEAC Rookie of the Year, and Bethune-Cookman's Terrance Hackney earned Offensive Lineman of the Year honors.
 
Brian Jenkins of MEAC champion Bethune-Cookman was named Coach of the Year.
