TOWSON, Md. (Sept. 6, 2011)-Katy Buck recorded a match-high 20 kills and Bibiany Fonseca notched a match-high 20 assists to lead Towson to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-13) sweep of visiting Morgan State in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening at the Towson Center.
Aubrey Kirven chipped in with 14 assists and Paige Sekerak had a match-high 11 digs for the Tigers who improved to 9-1 on the season and have now won eight straight.
Morgan State (2-5) was limited to just 14 kills for the entire match, including a low of three kills in the third set. Simone Durham led the way recording four kills, while Ashley Johnson and Janelle Wilson each added three. Erin Cox had a team-high six digs and Ngebui (Natalie) Chafeh totaled 13 of Morgan's 14 assists.
Towson finished the evening with 49 kills and a hitting percentage of .447 with kills of 18 and 17, respectively in the first and third sets. The Lady Bears had a .029 percentage for the match and had a high of six kills in the second set.
Morgan State will now prepare for this weekend's Hilton University 49ers Invitational (Sept. 9-10), hosted by Charlotte.
