OPENING KICKOFF
The Bears will host the North Carolina A&T Aggies when they hit the gridiron on Saturday (Oct. 1).  The game will mark the Aggies' conference opener as they try to rebound from a 31-14 non-conference loss to Coastal Carolina last Saturday at Aggie Stadium. MSU will attempt to build on a hard fought 14-9 victory against Howard at the New York Football Classic in East Rutherford, N.J.  Game time at Hughes Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. and there will be a live radio broadcast of the game on WEAA, 88.9 FM.

THE BEARS-AGGIES MATCHUP
• The Bears and Aggies will meet for the 77th time in history ... Morgan leads the series 40-33-3.
• MSU head coach Donald Hill-Eley holds an 7-2 record against the Aggies since 2002.
• The last time the Aggies defeated MSU was in 2005 when they pulled off a 40-33 overtime win.
• MSU has beaten N.C. A&T during their last five matchups, including 8 of their last 10 meetings.
• In 2010, the Bears came away with a 27-14 victory during the Aggies homecoming festivities.

MEAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• Redshirt-freshman linebacker Michael Dallas II of Morgan State University was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 26, 2011 the league announced Monday.
• Dallas (LB, 6-0, 205, r-Fr., Miami, Fla.) collected nine tackles, seven solo, to lead Morgan State to its first conference victory of the season.  He posted two forced fumbles, with one recovered for a touchdown.  He also recorded one tackle for a two-yard loss in the Bears' victory over Howard.

MSU LEADS MEAC, RANKED T-No. 1 IN TO MARGIN
One reason for MSU's recent success through the last two of four games of the season has been its ability to take care of the football as the Bears have turned the ball over seven times (3 fumbles, 4 interceptions). MSU leads the MEAC (tied with Hampton) in turnover margin at plus-1.25 per game. Last week against Howard, MSU turned the ball over once, while getting six takeaways from its defense in the 14-9 victory. The Bears also rank T-No. 4 in the FCS in turnovers gained (12).

QUICK HITS
•  Against Howard, redshirt freshman Robert Council completed 12-of-18 passes for119 yards and threw a 3- yard TD pass to junior tight end Kristian Johnson.
•  The Bears' defense pitched a 1st half shutout against Howard (14-0), the last time this happened was at Hughes Stadium on Oct. 15, 2009 when they held a 14-0 halftime lead against ... Howard.
•  True freshman QB Seth Higgins completed 3-of-6 passes in his first collegiate action during the 2nd half against Howard at MetLife Stadium.
•  MSU cornerback Kenneth Ridley collected his 2nd career pick when he stepped in front of a pass intended for HU's Willie Carter with 8 left to go in the game.
• After Saturday's contest the Bears will host new conference opponent the Savannah State Tigers for Homecoming ... Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on October 8 at Hughes Stadium.
