BALTIMORE, Md. (April 3, 2011)-Morgan State's Boshia Richardson recorded her second home run of the season, while finishing the day going 3-for-3 with a run scored and drove in all three of the Lady Bears' runs, but it wasn't enough, as visiting Coppin State defeated Morgan State, 4-3 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Lois T. Murray Field.

Coppin State (7-9, 1-2 MEAC), which notched its first win over Morgan State in four tries this season, was led by Jade Dudley, who went 2-for-3, including a home run, two RBI and a run scored for the Eagles.

The visiting Eagles struck first in the second inning, when Dudley hit her second home run of the season, giving the guests a 1-0 lead.

Morgan State (9-20, 2-1 MEAC) countered in the bottom half of the inning when Richardson homered, driving in Gabrielle Gomez and putting the Lady Bears up 2-1.

Coppin State would even the score at 2-2 when Eagles' pitcher Paige Arnold doubled in the fourth inning to score Charma Robinson. The Eagles then reclaimed the lead (3-2) in the sixth inning when Dudley singled to shortstop, scoring Amber Miller, who led off the inning with a single to left field.

The Lady Bears responded in the bottom of the sixth on a Richardson RBI single, which scored Gomez and evened the score at 3-3.

However, Coppin State would get a two-out single from Heather Josker to score Erica Washington and give the Eagles the 4-3 victory.

Coppin State's Arnold earned the win and improved to 5-5 on the season. Arnold, who pitched a complete game, had three strikeouts, while allowing three runs on nine hits.

The Lady Bears' Jordan Eades fell to 6-16 with the loss. Eades tallied four strikeouts and surrendered four runs on six hits and had two walks in seven innings pitched. Morgan State's Devina Brown, who has been picked off only twice this season, recorded her 19th and 20th steals of the season.

Morgan State returns to the field this weekend, when they travel to Hampton, Virginia to take on the Lady Pirates of Hampton in a three-game MEAC North Division series. The series gets underway on Saturday, April 9 with a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday's contest will get underway at noon.
