Delaware State (4-19, 3-7 MEAC) was led by Theresa Schieder, who finished with 10 kills, while Christobel Fakaosi totaled 28 assists, a team-high 10 digs and four kills for the Hornets.
Morgan State seemed to be in cruise control after jumping out to a 2-0 set lead. But the Hornets responded after the 10-minute intermission break and took the third set 25-22.
The momentum appeared to have shifted on the side of Delaware State, as the guests led by as much as three (16-13) in the fourth set and held a 23-21 advantage, following a Morgan attack error. A kill by the Hornets' Megan McDonald (seven kills) put Delaware State up 24-23 and would be the final points of the match for the visitors. An attack error by the Hornets evened the score at 24 all and behind the serve of Morgan's #Ngebui (Natalie) Chafeh#, Outlin and Johnson, respectively would score the last points of the match for the 26-24 win.
Chafeh would collect 47 assists on the afternoon to go along with her eight digs, three blocks, service ace and two kills for Morgan State. As a team the Lady Bears recorded 57 kills to 38 by Delaware State and had a .215 hitting percentage, while the Hornets hit for .129.
