Lady Bears Place Sixth at MEAC Track Championship; Randall Captures Discus Title

2010 MEAC Championship Results 

 

 

GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 8, 2010)-The 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track and Field championships came to a close Saturday afternoon at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University and the Lady Bears finished sixth overall with 36 points.

 

The Hampton Lady Pirates totaled 168.50 points to capture their fifth consecutive title. Norfolk State finished in second with 149.66 points, while South Carolina State was third with 108 points.

 

The third and final day of the MEAC championships saw Allison Randall capture the Lady Bears' lone title, recording a win in the discus with a throw of 48.82 meters.

 

Avionne Sloan placed second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.87, while Tanisha Kendrick, who a day earlier ran the fastest time during the preliminaries, placed fifth in a time of 56.75.

 

Christa Rogers was clocked at 14.92 in the 100 meter hurdles to finish eighth. Rogers then joined teammates Sloan, Britney Wattley and Kendrick on the 4X100 meter relay team, which placed sixth in a time of 47.50 seconds.
