9 Seniors Leaving
The following nine student-athletes will be playing in their last collegiate game at Morgan State this Saturday night: FB Jephte Cherenfant(Miami, Fla.), OL Ronnie Wilson (Pompano Beach, Fla.), WR Isaiah Spencer (Conway, S.C.), LB Brian Saunders (Mount Kisco, N.Y.), DL Sheldon Jacques (Miami, Fla.), PK Kemar Scarlett (Temple Hills, Md.), RB Alan Singletary (Baltimore, Md.), DE Bricen Tate (Beaumont, Texas), Nico Scott (Greenbelt, Md.)
The Scarlett Watch
Senior placekicker Kemar Scarlet was an All-MEAC Second Team selection in 2009, and NFL scouts certainly have the Temple Hills (Md) native on their radar. As a junior last year, the strong-legged kicker connected on 9-of-12 field goals, including 2-of-3 from 50 yards or more, and he tied a MEAC record by kicking a 55-yarder at Delaware State (Oct. 24, 2009). Scarlett set a single-game school record by booting in four field goals (33, 39, 44 & 47) to give the Bears its first season-opening victory since 2007, and hit three field goals against North Dakota State. He hit field goals from 45 and 46 yards out in the Bears conference opener win against Howard at New Meadowlands Stadium. He also connected on four field goals (24, 39, 43 & 47) last week against Norfolk State. Scarlett has carried the scoring load by lighting the scoreboard for 54 of the team's 191 total points this season.
Home Numbers
Morgan State has been tough to beat in the friendly confines of renovated Hughes Stadium since the start of the 2001 season. Following the Bears; win against Bowie State, MSU has a 23-19 (.548) at home under Coach Hill.
