The Opening Tip

Morgan State (8-5, 1-0), the 2009 MEAC champion, will travel north when they face-off against non-conference opponent Robert Morris (6-7) on Monday night. The game will mark the 13th non-conference game of the season for the Bears. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Charles L. Sewell Center. The game will mark the 2nd match-up between the teams. RMU won the first match-up 68-49 in 2004.

The Last Time Out
Reggie Holmes scored 23 points as Morgan State overcame an eight-point first-half deficit to defeat Long Island University 87-70 last Wednesday night in the consolation game of the Dr Pepper Classic, hosted by the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Holmes averaged 24 ppg thru two games and was selected to the All-Classic Team.

Robert Morris' Last Game
Freshman Karon Abraham's (Paterson, N.J. / Harp Academy) jumper in the paint with 33 seconds to play helped snap a 67-67 tie to vault the Robert Morris University men's basketball team to a 72-67 victory over Youngstown State Wednesday night at the Beeghly Center.

Series History
Monday night's game will be the second meeting between Morgan State and Robert Morris in men's basketball. Robert Morris dropped the Bears 68-49 during the 2004-05 season.

Holming In
Morgan State senior guard Reggie Holmes will enter Tuesday night's contest averaging 24.8 points per game, including four 30 point outings thru 13 games. He currently leads the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in scoring and ranks in the NCAA Top 10 (ranked No. 2 ).

Thompson's Hospitality
Morgan State forward Kevin Thompson was named to the Freshmen Mid-Major All-America team by Collegeinsider.com at the end of the last season. Thompson became the first Bear ever to be selected to the team. Thompson posted his 10th double-double of the season (16th career) during the Bears win against Long Island, finishing with 13 points and 17 rebounds. The sophomore is the leading rebounder in the nation by averaging 13.3 rebounds per contest.

Numbers Game
Morgan State has won three of its last four games and 4 of its last 6.
The Bears are 7-5 thus far this season against non-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponents and will enter MEAC play on Saturday Jan. 9th at Burr Gymnasium in Washington D.C. against Howard.
Morgan State's Reggie Holmes has been named the MEAC Player of the Week twice so far this season and Kevin Thompson has also been named twice as Defensive Player of the Week and once as the MEAC Player of the Week.
 Morgan State enters the game having won 9 of its last 14 non-conference meetings, including wins against Maryland, Arkansas, Towson, Albany, UMBC, East Tennessee State and Manhattan.
Reggie Holmes has scored 20 or more points in 12 out of 13 games, and has scored 30 or better four times so far this season.

MSU's is averaging 78.5 points per game and has posted 90 or more points twice so far this season
Sophomore point guard Sean Thomas dished out a career-best 10 assists in an overtime loss at Appalachian State on November 28.
Senior guard Reggie Holmes' 9 point output against #22 Louisville was his lowest scoring output since scoring 7 points at Hampton back on February 23, 2009...He made up for it in the Bears very next game by scoring a career-high 34 points to help MSU notch its first win against an SEC opponent.
Freshman forward DeWayne Jackson finished with a game-high 21 points and was 4-for-8 from beyond the arc at #22 Louisville.
Morgan State's win against Albany this season was the Bears first season-opener win since dropping Lincoln (91-50) in 1988. 
Prior to Morgan State's 82-54 loss to Oklahoma in MSU's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament last season, the Bears had won six consecutive games and 13 of its last 15.
